Workday Workforce Management - An HR Force That Saves Time and Money

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Workday Workforce Management to manage personal data, HR functions, learning, networking, and career building. We maintain up-to-date contact information and preferred name/pronouns, update our emergency contacts, etc. We also have access to the ever-changing org chart and can see time worked, time-off requests, and when they get approved after submission. We can pull up past pay stubs and see our benefits easily.

Pros

  • Approvals for time-off requests
  • Approvals for expense reimbursement
  • Upcoming seminars/webinars for continuing education

Cons

  • It has a steep learning curve
  • Not really a help desk available
  • Not customizable on my authority level

Return on Investment

  • Workday Workforce Management has lowered the amount of time team members have to go to HR for questions.
  • The approval process for reimbursement is lightning fast.
  • I am no longer requested to research my team's different benefit options, which saves me a LOT of time during enrollment periods.

Workday Human Capital.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Workday Workforce Management as our Human Capital system of record. This product adds document upload functionality, eliminating the need for a separate method for human capital document retention. It also allows you to see all employee IDs across integrated systems on a single screen. The time stamp for master data changes could be more user-friendly for location changes. Employee personal data changes has a easier tracking method.

Pros

  • Capturing various system ID's for employees.
  • Document upload functionality.
  • Tracking employee made changes.

Cons

  • How it tracks work location changes.
  • The reporting functionality.

Return on Investment

  • It is hard to classify, as we use WorkDay only for human capital management, not payroll.

Workday Workforce Management simplifies my job as a Leader

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Workday Workforce Management is a replacement for a much outdated system and the difference has been life changing as a Leader. It's literally a single stop platform that incorporates HR, people management, compensation, and performance. Navigating the platform is easy and intuitive, including use of the mobile app. I can't imagine having to go back to another system after this one was put into place. My job as Leader has been improved significantly by this organizational upgrade.

Pros

  • Compensation Planning
  • Performance Planning and Projects
  • Onboarding/Hiring

Cons

  • Visualization of performance planning documents
  • Mobile app consistently signs out

Return on Investment

  • Increased Leader efficiency
  • Decreased time working across multiple platforms

Workday Workforce Management

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Workday Workforce Management to help manage our current workforce as well as building it up. We track time and attendance along with performance and goals. We recruit from within and outside of our network to fill vacancies. Employees looking to expand their career can look at open opportunities within the network. We can roll out trainings to team members and track compliance with those trainings all within the Workday site.

Pros

  • Time and attendance tracking
  • Job postings for talent aquisition
  • Internal career hub for internal postings

Cons

  • Sometimes what you can see and do is limited by your job title and the permissions associated with those titles - in our organization sometimes roles blend into others and are not as easily defined.

Return on Investment

  • More efficient tracking of time and attendance
