Overall Satisfaction with MIP Fund Accounting (formerly Abila MIP)

MIP Fund Accounting is our main GL accounting system in which we use the GL, cash, AP, and fixed asset modules. One of the great things of MIP is the flexibility with accounts and reports variations. We also take advantage of the upload capabilities to upload journal entries and invoices that have multiple lines such as the one allocated across our funding.
  • The AP system has invoice control to avoid duplicate invoices.
  • Abilia MIP also has the flexibility to print 1099 statements for subcontractors.
  • As with any other Fund Accounting software Abilia MIP can track all the funds in separate trial balance
  • Entering budgets is relatively easy
  • Although MIP has strong reports, there a few that can improve, i.e. cost center report in Proforma, P &L report by funding Proforma.
  • MIP has recently added the features to handle credit memos but it still needs improvement, as there are some aspects where an invoice is entered against a credit and there is another entry created not in the payment register.
  • MIP has been a good system in the company, it is flexible and relatively easy to use with the right training. I have used other software which I find has better applications, but is a little more difficult to use.
I have used multiple applications, I did not select this particular application but overall I think that MIP stacks up very good with other similar applications in the same level.
MIP is suitable for non-for-profit companies that need to manage different funds and track activity individually by funding. Because of the cost associated with MIP, I would not recommended for small non-for-profit organizations or companies that do not have extensive funds to track separate.
