Overall Satisfaction with Absorb LMS

We use Absorb LMS for staff development purposes as well as for compliance training. It has been a great resource for both of those purposes; it allows us to automate our required training while also providing a course catalog for optional staff training. Replacing the manual process that we were doing has been an absolute game-changer for us.

Pros

  • Automation; the ability to set up rules for enrollments, reporting, etc...
  • Reporting; there are a large number of data points available to report on and even have emailed on a cadence you can define.
  • User-friendliness; on the Learner side and the Admin side Absorb is easy-to-use and very intuitive.

Cons

  • Reporting; I set this as an area that Absorb is doing well, but it's also an area that I would like to see more customization in. There are a lot of built-in reporting capabilities, but it would be nice to have more Salesforce-esque reporting capabilities built-in
  • Variables; it would be great to have more variables with setting auto-enrollments, reporting rules, etc.. similiar to Appsheet or low-code software where you can use more IF/THEN/AND/OR capabilities.
  • It's not needed, but a better built-in course creation software, similiar to Easygenerator would be a great addition.
  • Automation. Especially automating enrollments.
  • Integration. The ability to integrate with other course creation vendors (LinkedIn Learning, MinistrySafe, custom integrations, etc..)
  • User-friendliness. The ability for anybody regardless of tech background to be able to jump on and use the LMS without needing to be training on how to use it.
  • We have saved countless hours with the ability to automate our enrollment process.
  • The reporting, passed due notifications, and ability for supervisors to see/follow up with their direct reports has helped ensure compliance.
  • The ability to integrate with other content providers for general training has freed us up to focus our time and effort on building out more departmental/organization-specific training.
We evaluated a large number of LMS options, and what set Absorb LMS apart was not only the advanced functionality built-in but the fact that as advanced as it was still very easy to use as a Learner or as an Administrator. We needed something that could easily be integrated via API and SSO but also could be used on the Learner-side by somebody that was not tech-savvy.

Absorb LMS is a great tool for an HR department wanting to provide compliance training, an L&D department wanting to provide staff development opportunities, or even a company wanting to provide training on a product/service they sell.
It may not be as well-suited as a replacement for services like Kujabi, or SamCart, but depending on the use case it could.
