Overall Satisfaction with Absorb LMS

The previous LMS platforms we used were clunky, difficult to navigate, and we had to purchase content to put in the LMS (no authoring tool). Absorb LMS, while pricier than our previous options, contains so much added value. We love Absorb Create and have use it to author over 75 courses since our implementation 6 months ago! It has cut down the time to create learning resources significantly, while still maintaining a high quality. We needed to be able to track learning (which wasn't really possible in our previous LMS's) so the admin experience solved pretty much every problem we had in that regard - we love the ease of use of the reporting feature. I can't say enough good thinks about Absorb LMS and how it's benefited our organization.

Pros

  • Customizing the user interface was fairly simple and our learners WANT to use the platform because it looks so nice.
  • Admins have so many tools at their fingertips to pull reports, create new users, author new courses, and more!
  • Absorb LMS has been the solution to so many problems we had experienced in our previous LMS: ease of use, course library, course authoring, tracking, reporting, etc.

Cons

  • Building out competencies is a long and arduous process we have not tackled because of what's needed to be done beforehand.
  • Career pathing should be way easier to build out.
  • Some reports are hard to find.
  • We used Absorb LMS to track Annual Safety Training to ensure compliance with inspectors and ensure our teammates understand the risks and how to mitigate them safely. We were never able to track this before and thus, we simply didn't have mandatory annual training.
  • A huge drawback prior to implementation of Absorb LMS was our inability to offer more than our 40 purchased e-courses to our employees. These were mostly safety and equipment based courses, so we didn't have any soft skill development happening. Now we have hundreds of courses available from the Absorb library that cover the safety aspects, but we also have dozens of leadership courses, communication and influence courses, etc. It has been a huge gamechanger for our employees and their development opportunities! When I look at our course library, there are 400 courses, which over 300 being available through Absorb library (the other 80+ were made using Absorb Create).
I've used 4 or 5 LMS options in my time in Learning and Development and Absorb LMS is by far the best in terms of usability, accessibility for our learners, and user experience overall. We had trouble even getting people to use our previous LMS at all, but now we're seeing weekly access numbers that are so much higher than monthly and annual numbers in our previous LMS. It's a night and day difference!
  • Content Creation (Absorb Create)
  • Content Libraries (Absorb Amplify or 3rd Party Libraries)
We have hundreds of courses in our course library that were taken from Absorb Amplify or created using Absorb Create. Having these available and the ability to create new resources with a short turnaround time is invaluable for our employees. I've used other course authoring tools (Articulate, Storyline, etc.) and the Absorb Create tool is by far the easiest one I've ever used. While there are a few limitations, you can figure out how to do just about anything you could imagine using the sidebar tools within Create.
We absolutely loved both our sales representative, Mike Kuphos, and our Implementation manager, Joe Zizian. Joe has continued to be a great resource, even since we went live with our LMS and were moved into the maintenance stage! I sent over a quick question recently when I was stuck in the platform... within hours, he responded with a video walking me through how to do what I was having trouble with. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Joe and the level of customer service he has provided throughout implementation and beyond. I haven't really had to use alternate support methods.
We used Cornerstone Learn at my previous organization and it seemed like there were way too many issues from an administrative standpoint. I haven't had many issues at all with Absorb LMS, which makes me think Cornerstone was just expensive junk. Prior to moving to Absorb LMS at Markey's, we used Trakstar (now Mitratech), which was an absolute nightmare. The UE was awful, not customizable, ugly, and not at all intuitive. Absorb LMS is exactly the opposite! We can customize, we made it look super sharp and aligned with our industry, and the UE is so much better.

Absorb LMS answered a lot of questions we were facing as an organization in how we train and develop our employees. Absorb LMS is not only a fantastic repository for learning resources, the built in tools make creating new resources and experiences for our teammates so much easier and more streamlined. We use the Absorb Create authoring tool and have had great luck in course creation using many methods (AI, templates, etc.). We implemented the LMS in 4 weeks due to the guidance and willingness of our Implementation manager to move along at a quicker pace. We also love the Absorb library of content that helps fill in some of the soft skills and safety gaps without us having to create internal resources.
