Overall Satisfaction with Acumatica
We use it for our Billing (AR), AP, GL, and Commissions. Ultimately our old system was not in the cloud which gave us support challenges and we needed to upgrade for that purpose alone. However we did want more options than the old system was capable and we wanted something that would update more regularly based on changing technology.
Pros
- Access to Data
- Business Events
- Updating regularly
Cons
- AP Posting Period - This should be flexible when posting to the GL and shouldn't be tied from step 1.
- GI Wizard would be great. It's bit of a learning curve from the start.
- Workflow approvals - there should be an option to have all approvals be denied vs approved. For example if a AP workflow parameter was missing or incorrect, it will default to approve vs stopping it completely. These are often internal controls and it's crazy that this is how it functions.
- Delegations - Doesn't occur retroactively and we have to manually push the invoices or other items to another person.
- A lot of query work has shifted to the accounting team, which has been an adjustment, but an improvement as it gives us more independence.
Though it has been slow to get things in place it has given my team the independence to pull data when needed and convenient vs waiting on external person to provide. This has been incredibly beneficial to better serve our needs. My team is mostly internal so we don't have any external customers other than from a reporting perspective.
We are in the insurance industry and Acumatica doesn't specifically target that field. We have our claims processing systems, so in the future, the hope is to get Acumatica integrated with that system so some of that work is automated. I think Acumatica should focus on larger companies that need a system that is more flexible.
