Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat

We used Adobe Acrobat DC (paid version) in our organization to evaluate research products and write-ups that get shared with our stakeholders, and make edits. It is used frequently in day-to-day tasks, particularly tools like Scan to OCR, Edit PDF, Organize Pages, and Fill & Sign. It can be a useful alternative to Microsoft Word for creating more dynamic documents with multiple images and tables.

Pros

  • Scan text from images.
  • Work with PDFs and make edits.
  • Combine multiple documents or remove pages from a document.

Cons

  • Lag time - Very slow to open.
  • Crashing - Adobe frequently crashes, and it is difficult to reopen closed documents.
  • Responsiveness - Adobe freezes a lot.
  • Highlighting feature - Adobe can struggle to recognize text properly.
  • Time spent on submitting tickets is wasted.
  • Crashing of Adobe means lost work that hurts ROI.
  • Adobe's ease of comments makes it easy to pass around for review across multiple teammates.
  • Other
As I mentioned in another comment, Adobe Acrobat is the only product on the market that is well-known for making edits and working with PDF files. Given the need for PDF files in the research and marketing space that my team operates in, we really didn't have other choices.
I work for an extremely secure organization that requires national security clearances. This is likely an influence on why my organization purchased Adobe Acrobat. I'm not familiar with their security and compliance tools, but this makes sense.
Other products like Word and PPT can help me create PDF files; however, I cannot actively edit and work within a .pdf file without Adobe Acrobat (to my knowledge). Adobe Acrobat almost feels like a required product for any organization that wants to work with and actively edit .pdf files. They dominate the marketspace.

Do you think Adobe Acrobat delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with Adobe Acrobat's feature set?

Yes

Did Adobe Acrobat live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Adobe Acrobat go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Adobe Acrobat again?

No

Adobe Acrobat is really one of the only known tools for working with PDFs. In some ways, I think that because of their domination over the market, they do not feel compelled to frequently improve their product. If you have shorter PDF documents, Adobe isn't too bad. However, for longer documents, I sometimes prefer to open them in the browser - even without the editing tool. I try to make do simply because Adobe Acrobat can be a poor product.
