Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Acrobat DC

I am a litigator. Nearly all pleadings, motions, and other court filings are electronic these days. And almost every court requires PDF files. Acrobat lets me assemble and manage PDFs for filing. It also allows me to redact sensitive information securely from electronic documents. Finally, its Bates numbering feature is handy for smaller document productions. I know I'm creating solid PDF files in Acrobat.
  • Managing PDFs
  • Editing PDFs
  • Redacting PDFs
  • I find the interface somewhat confusing
  • I sometimes have difficulties finding tools in menus
  • The product is too expensive
  • Ability to assemble and manage PDFs
  • Ability to create PDF/A files, which many courts prefer
  • Ability to redact and Bates stamp electronic documents
  • I am a user, so I cannot comment on the business-wide effect of this software solution
I have used Acrobat on my cellphone to scan documents to PDF and then finished working on them on my desktop. That was a seamless experience that worked well, likely because all the processing was being done by related Adobe software. I wouldn't try to manage or edit a PDF on my phone, however. I'd love to see it come more fully to the Remarkable 2 note tablet, where it would be a boon.
I cannot say I've ever heard of any security problems occurring at our firm as a consequence of Adobe's software.
I like Acrobat because it feels like the company pays attention to it and improves it regularly without affecting core functionality. Kofax Power PDF was more difficult to use, and it felt neglected, only getting an update maybe once every year or so.

I generally have had good experiences with Acrobat. I recently completed some government forms using its tools. It is a stalwart in litigation practice, working more predictably than some competing products that I've used in the past. I find it useful for preparing documents for filing and for obtaining a secure review of files that I don't want to be edited.
