Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Firefly

Occasionally we've used Adobe Firefly to experiment with AI and envision designs that would otherwise require a full production crew. We've also used Adobe Firefly to create e-materials (such as trend reports) as well as collateral for internal events. Overall Firefly helps inspire brainstorming and is a quick solution for expansive design explorations.

Pros

  • Good capabilities for faux photography
  • Excellent generative fill feature
  • Lots of preset styles and effects

Cons

  • No negative prompt option
  • Some of the results are very unrealistic
  • Not as high quality as I would like
  • Not privy to ROI info
  • From a work culture perspective, it has raised ethical questions and concerns in the internal design community.
  • It has also led to more AI workshops featuring AI tools more broadly
I like the interface and I feel like there are tools within the software to teach and empower the user. That said, a lot of user frustration sets in when the AI generates visuals that are way off course. I've abandoned the tool before because it was generating images that were not at all what I was looking for.
I've used Adobe Firefly as opposed to other image generators because it is a part of the Adobe suite.

Yes

I think it can definitely be used to kick off design brainstorms and help iterate ideas that would be harder to explain or articulate. That said, sometimes I've felt very beholden to whatever the prompts were generating and when the design wasn't depicting the right visuals, I could not negative prompt it to remove certain things I did not like.
