Overall Satisfaction with AdWords

Currently, I'm looking into applying for the AdWords grant for nonprofits, as I work for the charitable arm of my institution, in the alumni development department. It would be great to take advantage of an AdWords grant to increase our traffic online and bring alumni and prospective donors to my institution's site in an effort to increase conversion (online gifts) and awareness of the alumni brand.
  • Increases brand awareness by having dual real estate exposure in the Google search results page
  • Increases website traffic by capitalizing on various search terms to drive users to your website
  • Allows you to get in front of your preferred audience rather than wasting marketing dollars being in front of irrelevant audiences
  • Separating mobile vs. desktop in the new enhanced campaigns would be nice.
  • ROI
  • Increase website traffic
  • Increase engagement rates (higher click-through rates, longer time spent on site, higher conversion rates coming from adwords ads vs. organic traffic
I've used yahoo/bing ads platform, and adwords seems to be a bit more intuitive in terms of navigating the functionality, nevermind the vast majority of users being on Google's network vs. Bing/Yahoo.
As a professional, I will continue to stay up-to-speed on the AdWords interface and functionality, as it's an incredibly valuable skill set that can benefit small and enterprise clients alike, and I encourage local business owners all the time to get involved in AdWords ads.
What are your business goals? Who are your competitors? Are they using AdWords ads? For some industries and verticals, there is simply no online audience where there's an influx of people searching for your product or service, and therefore no relevant traffic to leverage anyways.
