Overall Satisfaction with Atlassian Jira
Atlassian Jira is our hub for software development and related project tracking, including design and devops tasks. We monitor release progress as well as individual dev team boards across Kanban and Scrum workflows. We also track our backlogs related to bug fixes, critical care and support issues (via Atlassian Jira Service Desk), and generate version reports, burndowns, and other key visibility into our progress. We also leverage its integrations into other platforms, including Confluence, Miro, and Aha!
Pros
- Customizable report filtering and list-building
- Visibility into shared lists
- Componentizing separate projects
- Tracking project progress
Cons
- The interface is not intuitive to learn for new users
- JQL is similarly challenging for newbies
- It's possible to accidentally move issues from one sprint to another without realizing your mistake
- Certain issue attributes aren't available in certain view (e.g. story points from the epic overview)
- Reduced status update meetings by 50% with at-a-glance visibility for executives and stakeholders for real-time progress and status reports
- Virtually eliminated missed work due to shared visibility across teams
- Consolidated 2 other tools by leveraging Service Center
Atlassian Jira provides the greatest access to integrated tools, the most common/familiar interface and toolset for most development teams, and is competitively priced when compared to the level of customization required to outfit similar tools we've used.
