Automox for the win
Overall Satisfaction with Automox
Automox is used to patch both operating system and third-party application from a single unified platform. Most other solutions available on the market don't have the same operating system and third-party application coverage as Automox. The 100% cloud based console also makes it simple to deploy and manage without the need for any on-prem infrastructure to support the patching solution.
Pros
- Third-party application patching
- Easy of deployment
- Good visibility
Cons
- Dynamic asset grouping
- Would like the ability to nest groups and patching policies (eg. parent group covers operating system policies for all child groups, then individual child groups per business unit with their own configurations). This would allow for some devices to have more strict policies than others for third-party applications, while maintaining a consistent configuration for other components such as OS patching.
- Tool consolidation
- Single pane of glass visibility
- Decreased exposure time / time that systems are left un-patched
Significantly reduces the manual follow-up with users once vulnerabilities have been discovered on their endpoints. This is very helpful in environments with a BYOD model and/or where end-users are able to install their own third-party applications, making it very difficult for most centralized tools to inventory and patch the applications that are out there / beyond corporate IT's control.
From a pricing perspective, Automox is very competitive when compared to others with similar feature sets and capabilities. Other solutions from larger vendors were somewhat limited in their visibility, operating system support, and third-party application integration. Automox seemed to be the best mix of both capabilities and pricing at the time of evaluation.
