Automox The fresh maker
Overall Satisfaction with Automox
We use Automox for anything from patching to system vulnerability scanning and more. We also heavily use it for the remote options for servers, end users and everything in between. The patching part of it allows for you to be able to not only patch windows but also patch any other software that has been added which is a vastly huge selection. One other final thing that we use it for is to install software via the worklets. There are tons of worklets that other people in the industry have made and published to be able to do installs.
Pros
- Remote Control of end user devices.
- Silent installs of software.
- Patching of third party software.
- Even though it is not a vulnerability scanner it acts as one as long as you keep up to date.
Cons
- The remote connection tool could use some TLC to make it a better connection.
- Agent auto update needs to be introduced so that you can set it and forget it.
- Moving between zones can be clunky so cleaning that up would be great also.
- Patches are now fully up to date and we have no longer been dinged for it from our pen testing partners.
- Reduced man hours spent on maintaining an update server and the hours spent looking at each machine to ensure it patched all software both windows and third party.
- Allows for us to provide a vendor with a means to connect to our systems without the use of a VPN.
We have now passed our most recent pen test when it comes to the specifics of patching software and vulnerabilities. Saved myself and my co workers hours on end as we no longer have to inspect each system for patches and also no longer do we have to remote for an install. We just use the silent install on the system in worklets and then it is all done.
