- Greatly reduced the amount of time for tax filing.
- Great reporting system and easy upload with the legacy feature.
- Sage (erp)
- Shopify (ecommerce)
Very simple integration with both systems.
- Avalara Returns
- Professional Services (nexus studies, registrations, backfiling, etc.)
Avalara Returns automatically files the returns for our company after we have uploaded all of the transactions for the month and pays the taxes as well, whether the filing is monthly or quarterly, Avalara is on it and pays on time.
Calculating taxes for sales made specifically in complicated jurisdictions. CertCapture is also a nice feature if you're willing to pay the upcharge. We were audited by our state and Avalara was not really much help with the resale certificates, but the reports did come in very handy and very accurate.

Cross-Border Tax Compliance with Avalara
Yes, Avalara has kept us compliant in the 40 states which we have nexus and need to file taxes. Avalara also keeps us up to date with any upcoming tax laws that will come into effect. Avalara keeps track of your progress towards obtaining nexus in a particular state and suggest on when to apply for a sales tax license.
Avalara has allowed our company to continue selling nationwide after the enactment of the Wayfair law. With so many jurisdictions throughout the 50 states, I feel like it would be nearly impossible to stay up to date with all of the rates, rate changes and laws in each of the jurisdictions.
Yes - We would like to expand into Canada in the future, but right now are trying to expand our fulfillment centers to have faster shipping to our customers. We currently do not have anything in place to set up our business to sell in Canada.
Yes, we do sell on marketplaces. These marketplaces collect and remit the sales tax for the orders sold through their platform.
