Overall Satisfaction with Avalara AvaTax

We use AvaTax to file all of our State Sales/Use Tax across all divisions. It frees up several hours of filing and compliance work.
  • We don't have to maintain the different tax rates for each city/county/state that has Nexus.
  • They file all of our sales/use tax for 20 states.
  • They maintain Tax Exempt Certificates and will send out letters when certificates are expired and allow our customers to upload new certificates.
  • The website is sometimes hard to get around.
  • The implementation took longer than expected, but well worth the effort.
  • We have saved several man hours a month by not having to file our own tax returns.
We had issues with the compatibility with our ERP, so it took several months to implement the entire interface. We were able to use the service by downloading the transactions and have them do the filing.
It is very user friendly, once you learn how to navigate the web site.
AvaTax is great for preparing and filing state sales/use tax, especially for businesses that have Nexus in several different states. They determine the tax rate based on the exact address of the customer, which is much more accurate than we were able to do on our own.
