Overall Satisfaction with AVI-SPL

We use AVI-SPL to install, configure, and support our conference room technology. We have a number of robust conference rooms with varying tech built on a Crestron backend. AVI-SPL has helped us both install new and refresh existing tech over the past 7 plus years. They worked with us to design a large 4 room modular conference center that we can expand and contract as needed for the meeting size. We have expanded on the space over the years to include ceiling microphones, tracking cameras, and various other custom programming changes.

Pros

  • Execution of the project is always consistent. Its done timely and to spec.
  • Support is prompt and available. During COVID lead times were longer but since then the resources for onsite support have been excellent.
  • They are very comfortable with emerging tech. They also support a range of established technologies versus focusing on one domain.

Cons

  • Turnaround time on quoting could be improved.
  • Install times are generally booked out a bit. I know that there is a balance between demand and onhand resources.
  • Pricing. They are by far one of the most expensive. I constantly need to look for ways to trim back costs because there is quite a lot baked into the quote in terms of maintenance and it feels like a cash grab in the end. I've gotten quotes elsewhere due to some of the numbers I've received and they all have come well under AVI-SPL's. Here's the list of line items from what I've seen from my last quote and this is from one conference room. Equipment Total, Installation Materials, Professional Services, Direct Costs, General and Administrative, Room Support and Maintenance, Device Maintenance. This feels egregious.
  • We are a service based industry. Supporting an environment that can accommodate large groups of people is key. When we moved to this building being able to have a space that can support 500 plus people was critical.
  • The modularity of the room we built means we can support a single room of 250 plus or expand and overflow our meeting to over 500 attendees. It also means we can have two 250 person meetings running concurrently.
AVI-SPL has always been responsive and reliable. They are available via call or email and getting an onsite person is never a challenge. That comes with the support level we pay for but it is worth it when uptime is crucial. I don't have time for phone support asking the same questions about did you turn it off and on again. When I reach out to AVI-SPL I explain what the issue is and what I've attempted and they then send someone out to address it within a few business days.
Our conference center has really helped our remote colleagues feel like they are a bigger part of the organization. They can tune in to workshops or staff meetings and get a more engaging experience. This is critical to maintaining our culture and reputation as a company. Customers are also able to attend with the remote functionality of our conference center's technology when in person attendance isn't possible.
We don't have an exact match for similar services. We have used other companies for low voltage work when needed. It's generally been more cost effective to do so.

AVI-SPL will deliver on its promises. That has always been a constant theme for them. They have a knowledgeable team both in sales and support. Sales responses times are decent, support is much better though. Their service comes at a premium. If it's a more complicated environment, then they are your best bet for overall satisfaction.
