Barracuda Backup-- great backup solution for our workstations in a corporate environment.
Overall Satisfaction with Barracuda Backup
We use Barracuda backup to back up our workstations in our environment. The good thing about it is that it can backup Windows, Linux, and Mac machines. We also are able to target certain machines so that people that have data that doesn't need to be saved if the machine fails do not use unnecessary data. We also drill down into the user profile so that we are not backing up the OS either.
Pros
- Target machine backup.
- Reports of failure.
- Scheduling.
- Backup to onsite storage and replication to the cloud.
- It's easy to use the interface to see how the appliance is doing.
Cons
- I wish I could make the appliance an onsite public IP so that it could back up public machines not on the network.
- We have been able to set up computers at remote locations and restore data from backup, which has saved on shipping and time costs.
We used to use a product that Symantec offered. The problem was that it was not able to connect to Mac machines to back up data. This was a big issue, since we have Executives and marketing employees that use Macs. We also tested Druva inSync. It offered a lot of features that we just didn't need in our solution, and it was cloud-based only. We like to keep a local copy and cloud copy.
