Overall Satisfaction with Bitdefender GravityZone

Bitdefender GravityZone is being used across the whole company (three locations). It is used on physical endpoints and also on virtual desktop endpoints (VMware Horizon View).

Pros

  • Integrates well with VMware NSX to support virtual environments.
  • Fairly easy to set up in VMware NSX virtual environments.
  • For both physical and virtual environments it is fairly easy to set up policies to control how/why/when/which pieces of Bitdefender.
  • Fairly complete "dashboard" to manage the environment(s).
  • Good integration with Active Directory.

Cons

  • When kicking off scans (or other tasks) from the GravityZone dashboard it creates a task - and until the task is complete, what is happening can be a little vague. I'd like to see a little bit more detail on the progress perhaps.
  • Reporting, scheduling reports can be cumbersome. Might be better if it had some sample reports or would generate on the screen what a given report might look like.
  • It is good at updating but to figure out what you need to update you have to look in multiple places - Needs some streamlining and simplifying.
  • Better follow up on long-running support tickets.
  • I don't rely on any single product or technology to protect my environment. Bitdefender GravityZone is one part of the overall solution for security.
Bitdefender, when I started the VDI journey, was the only vendor READY to have something to work in VMware (vShield at the time). I even looked at the big boys - McAfee & Symantec. They had products but they were not ready.
Because of that and the support I've gotten from Bitdefender GravityZone over the years, that's why I've maintained a relationship with them and expanded it to cover my physical endpoints as well. At this time in our VDI journey - physical endpoints are dwindling away and virtual have taken over.
I can't think of a specific scenario where Bitdefender GravityZone would be less appropriate. I like it for the virtual desktop world. In fact that was my original reason for picking it. They were the only one who had a product ready to go when I began testing VDI. They were very helpful and they understood why I wanted to use VMware's "model" of providing AV at the network layer.

Using Bitdefender GravityZone

65 - All staff: architects, designers, accounting, administration and marketing staff. Bitdefender protects all our physical and virtual desktop endpoints.
1 - I am an IT staff of one. I setup & maintain everything from phones to printers to desktops to servers to networking and storage. We have three offices (with a few rented office "spaces" as well). I require a product that I can depend on and is easy to support.
  • I have to protect my users at the "endpoint" level.
It works. I rely heavily on my vendors to provide a product that works, is easy to implement, and that they support. As well as be a decent value for the money.
