Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT

We are an organization that holds events for awareness and fundraising and makes grants to community groups. We use Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT next to disburse payments to vendors and those who implement projects / provide services.

Pros

  • Keeps vendor records organized
  • Useful for accounting
  • Allows convenient access to vendor information

Cons

  • fields are somewhat outdated
  • steps to log in can be cumbersome
  • some people report they have trouble adding attachments
  • would be nice if one can refer to attachments that have previously been added rather than adding the same file to multiple invoice requests
  • enhanced accountability
  • record accuracy for financial filings
This is our main reason for using this product. It has been reliable for meeting our compliance needs. Regarding donor relations, in combination with RE, we are trying to utilize it for better and more customized donor communication but have not consistently had good results. Some of it is beyond our control or so it would seem but we continue to try to use the customized reports to reach out to donors with messages of interest to them.
The product has been reliable in providing visibility into organizations spending and financial performance but I dont think we have fully been able to utilize the custom dashboards. Whether this is due to our own lack of training or glitches / cumbersomeness in the system is something we have not yet figured out.
The two products work together. My main experience has been with this set of products. It has been many years since we used anything else and I dont have basis to compare.

No

It has generally been working for us even though it is cumbersome at times. Well suited to the needs of a large organization with dedicated full time staff but in the case of one involving volunteers who use the system less frequently it can be hard to handle. Some of this might be due to measures that are needed for a secure system, some of them might be improvable if one tried to make it more volunteer friendly.
