Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine

We use BlackLine to complete monthly reconciliation across 10 entities. The volume of reconciliation did not allow us to easily check completeness of reconciliation (just coverage) in the "old" way of doing things in Excel. Implementation of BlackLine has given us that visibility.

Pros

  • Informing prepares of incomplete reconciliations.
  • Allowing managers to see completeness of reconciliation.
  • Allows for easy extract of reconciliation data for high level review.

Cons

  • The reconciliations templates do not allow customization of data points; a little bit more customization would be useful.
  • Greater visibility.
  • Greater accountability.
  • Improved ability for information extracts.
We did not look into other products.

BlackLine is very intuitive and one can easily go in and start completing reconciliation. The standardized templates takes extra manual work out of the reconciliation process and drives efficiency. In addition, the courses in BlackLine U are very useful in guiding new users.
I've logged multiple cases and they are promptly addressed.
BlackLine is great for managing high volume reconciliations completed by multiple users and reviewed by multiple managers. It would not be a system I recommend for smaller organization.
