Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine
Our entire team is using it across several plants and other divisions. It helps greatly by giving us a framework to standardize older disparate legacy charts of accounts and allows management to compare plants and similar operating divisions. Now a change in the COA is global instead of one plant or division at a time.
Pros
- Standardization is improved
- Process training becomes global instead of one work area at a time
- Charts of accounts can be shared and mapped to allow for individual and global reporting
Cons
- Could use the ability to send an in process item to someone to get help or for review
- I was not inolved but I know in general that the software is expensive
- Global access and standardization
- Increased mobile workforce requires the discipline of a system like BlackLine
- Much greater efficiencies in period closes saving thousands on man hours
- We have realigned our finance organization to better utilize the power of the software
We use Cognos for some reports and other features but we are excited about getting those same reports from a unified system that also house and tracks our data maps and our universal chart of accounts. We are using the new open access to data from all other areas to develop key metrics for measuring one plant against another, even if their scope in size is different.
