Overall Satisfaction with BlackLine
BlackLine Account Reconciliations, Transaction Match, Tasks and expanding to Studio 360 etc.
Pros
- Good integration with SAP Connectors
- Transaction Match is nicely integrated with Account Reconciliations
- Reporting is very robust
- The energy and effort going into developing the product.
- User conference is exceptional.
Cons
- Limitations with import templates and certain connectors e.g. Fx
- Big Match transactions which is being addressed
- No backup capability - relies on teams which is very administrative
- SSO challenges
- Unable to change group names after certification
- Unable to inactivate strings - have to use dormancy
- Fx challenges when adding new Fx - have to create unique account groups
- No ability to import onto a supervisor field - not part of the import template
- Change management was seamless
- I believe the application still needs a much more robust integration to get the full value. We are on that path but some way to go.
The impact is advancing but not where we need it to be just yet. It is certainly advancing.
BlackLine does not match reconNET for high volume transaction capabilities and does not have some of the additional modules leveraging the data e.g. cash sweep, research module, GL extract etc. BlackLine and Cadency are fairly even products. Both have advantages and disadvantages when compared.
