Overall Satisfaction with Box

Box was formerly used at my organization to share large files between teammates and to back up student work from our live lessons.
  • Allows file sharing of large objects that cannot be emailed
  • Storage for items that don't need to stay on one's hard drive
  • User-friendly operation and setup
  • Free Box had a limit to which we could use it
  • We wanted it to be fully web-based and not have desktop software
  • While we used it, it was great to share files. Increased our productivity.
  • Allows remote users to be connected to others.
  • Great way to back up files - security for organizations.
We are now using Google Drive. It is just easier, completely web-based, and with Google 4 Educators, we don't have to worry about how much space we use. Box was good but was not able to support us long-term.
I think it is fine for small groups or individuals, or for emailing large file attachments that do not need to be permanently saved. I don't think it is the best choice for large groups where lots of files are being shared.
