Overall Satisfaction with Brandwatch

We use Brandwatch for social listening insights - both for monitoring broad online conversation around certain topics or events, and for tracking brand mentions.

Pros

  • Comprehensive data set - a huge amount of information is being captured and condensed effectively
  • Multiple data visualisation options - really customisable dashboards
  • Shareable links - it's really handy being able to share Live dashboards with colleagues who don't have a Brandwatch account.

Cons

  • The overall UX can be a bit overcomplicated - it sometimes feels that there would be a cleaner way to do things
  • Integration with other social analysis platforms would be amazing if ever possible
  • The export feature can be a little hit and miss - it would be useful if it flagged which parts of a dashboard weren't going to be exported
  • Enhanced understanding of the social landscape for teams that don't work with it directly, leading to better collaboration.
  • Able to provide senior leadership with tangible, numerical data on how often our brand is appearing in the contexts we want (or don't want) leading to more trust in the value of our social media KPIs.
It can be very fiddly and long winded, but once you get the hang of it it's worth it! When first getting set up with everything though, and having used other similar platforms, it does feel that the user interface could be simpler or structured differently to ease moving between areas.
We have very recently moved to the other tool as we needed to house all social media monitoring (community, insights and listening) in one place and needed unlimited user profiles - but if this were not the case for our team, then we would have stuck with Brandwatch for its unapparelled wealth of data, Live dashboards and mentions limit feature in particular.

Really well suited to tracking brand mentions both in general and within the context of other topics of conversation. For example if there is a natural disaster, and we want to check how many times our charity is referenced in posts that are discussing that event, this is an excellent tool as it grabs so much data and consolidates it in such effective visualisations. In our case, it's not very strong for tracking brand/topic sentiment, as the topics we monitor are often inherently negative and the sentiment is automatically attributed as such due to the presence of 'negative' language - but the sentiment towards our brand may actually be positive within that.
