Overall Satisfaction with CATS Applicant Tracking System

We are a recruiting company that used CATS for tracking Candidates, Jobs, and Client details. We would use it for individual communication, as well as mass communication. We grew our candidate network up to over 90,000 candidates.
  • Customization of record fields for different record types.
  • Workflow options (if I select "this" then "this" option will appear.
  • Reporting is extremely limited. Practically zero customization, outside of time periods. There are some boxed reports, but they are very general.
  • Database search was difficult to work with. The filters were fine, but if you deal with a large volume of candidates, this is not the software. We had a database of over 90,000 candidates and the system was not able to handle that very well. My searches timed out almost every time. I had to adjust a filter to get the resulting number low enough for it to handle the volume. Then, I had to run the search again with a different filter to include the candidates left off on the first search. I called support multiple times on this issue and they could never give me a reason why.
  • API is very limited. Getting data out of the system was not easy and it did not play well with webhooks.
  • No automation.
  • I would consider CATS ROI to be in the negative The features provided for the cost are limited. There are systems out there for the same cost that are way more robust. Additionally, the platform we recently moved to is exponentially bigger and 20% less in cost per user.
TargetRecruit - CATS is way more user friendly than TargetRecruit. You have to have a degree in Computer Programming to use TargetRecruit. CATS is very streamlined, clean and easy to implement.

Zoho Recruit - with the exception of the resume parser, CATS is an infant learning to crawl and Zoho Recruit competes in triathlons. For $70 per month per user, you can build a recruiting universe.

Top Echelon - turns out they purchased CATS. We tested them, but it was not as user friendly.

JobAdder - loved this product. Customizable like CATS, but the API for JobAdder gives many, many option. However, JobAdder only uses Zapier and all the addons will nickel and dime you to death. A $100 license with JobAdder becomes a $250 per month per user really quick.

Do you think CATS Applicant Tracking System delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with CATS Applicant Tracking System's feature set?

No

Did CATS Applicant Tracking System live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of CATS Applicant Tracking System go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy CATS Applicant Tracking System again?

No

It has a great parsing feature and the extension is very helpful. Many ATS systems do not support parsing within LinkedIn...this one does. I was sad to see this option go when we finally transitioned. I would almost keep CATS just for the LinkedIn parsing if I knew I could easily get the information OUT of the system once it was there. A good API/webhook would be great, but sadly the API connections don't work well. Our firm also works with companies with multiple sites all across the US. There was never a way to "nest" a location with a parent company. Because of this, being able to research or report on a true client relationship was not possible. It was a very manual process.
