Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Celonis for Accounts Payable, P2P, as well as for Supply Chain processes like measuring externally procured Finished Goods Lead Times and calculating accurate Safety Stock levels. I have been mainly involved in the Supply Chain use cases. Our main objective was in a first step to analyze patterns in our lead times and demand forecast. Then in a 2nd step we wanted to actively improve Master Data in our SAP ERP systems, that would help the Supply Planning teams to plan new purchase requisitions more accurately.

Pros and Cons

Good support with building business cases
Close relationship and a very engaged Celonis Account manager
Wide array of predeveloped Use cases, that can be deployed and customized to our specific processes and systems
Support in defining new business cases and opportunity to talk to Product Managers

Some Celonis use cases replicate functionality that would be better covered by more dedicated tools/platforms, e.g. Inventory Monitoring
It's not as easy to build self-service dashboards/reports as with Power BI
Celonis is more pricey compared to classic BI tools

More accurate and realisitic lead times for procuring Direct Materials
More accurate Safety Stock levels, allowing to reduce Lost Net Sales and reduce Inventory
Better understanding of the variations of our processes

Resources Provided

Celonis are offering comprehensive resources for free on their Elearning websites and it's possible to complete modules and receive badges confirming completion. They also now offer certifications but I personally didn't complete one yet. Apart from that it's also possible to get access via the Celonis Account executive to some demo environments to play around in new use cases with dummy data.

Likelihood to Recommend

Celonis is well suited to get an understanding of how our processes really look like. Especially the Object Centric Process Modelling will be a further significant improvement. Celonis platform is very flexible and the opportunities for new use cases are unlimited. However on the flip side, some of the Celonis pre-developed Use Cases would be more suitable to be covered third party full fledged tools, so comparisons have to be done on a case by case basis.
