Overall Satisfaction with Ceridian Dayforce

  • Ceridian Dayforce is used by our organization for workforce management in the retail stores. As a time management tool, it allows us to schedule employees, track hours worked and PTO taken. We use it to report labor in relation to sales per hour.
  • It addresses compliance issues - setting up all rules required by states to pay employees accurately and to pay premium hours when in violation of any rules.
  • It allows employees to swap time. It is web-based, so access is readily available and communication can take place between employee and manager.
  • The reporting module is used for PTO accruals and all types of personnel analysis.
  • Track Time and Attendance - easy to use and set up new codes.
  • Audit Trail - the ability to see who did what when is clear for when you are not able to actually speak to someone.
  • Reporting - would like some shortcuts and to know where the data is being pulled from.
  • Ability to go between a person in MyHR to the timesheet
  • Prompts when programming changes to make sure you hit all the areas required. Example, If adding a new part-time sick policy, you are not told that you must add the locations to the mapping table for it to work. All instructions were missing that.
  • Positive - Keeping us compliant, thereby reducing risk.
  • Support does not always do their homework and give us incorrect solutions, or 1/2 of a solution which results in our having to come back and waste time checking.
  • Ease of use for exporting hours to a different payroll system.
Dayforce provides updates to their clients which helps keep us compliant. We try to automate as much as possible. We set up all the rules by state and test each case. Once a certain policy is programmed, it is easy to copy that policy for a new state or municipality and tweak it, without having to start over.
  • We only use the system for scheduling, time and attendance, PTO and compliance.
  • For scheduling it is great, we post 2 weeks in advance and employees are able to make changes with plenty of time for other resources to be put in place.
  • Since its real-time, a manager can see how they are trending in Overtime for the week.
  • It is also helpful when planning time off, as it lets you know who else will be out when approving time off.
We do not use Dayforce HCM for payroll, HR or benefits. This makes for constant testing of the different systems to ensure they are in sync, it also requires much manual intervention to make any corrections. One of the big issues is when making a correction in the past, Dayforce will reactivate an employee if they are terminated, because the action had them active in the past and does not push the top record.
Ceridian Dayforce was specially created for retail and it is set up well to accommodate adding numerous locations and changing organizations easily. On the flip side, setting up complex entitlements can not be programmed in Dayforce. Recently we changed our vacation accrual from accruing over 12 months to 10 months with the exception of year 1. The system could not do this and we manually have to add the accruals for months 11 and 12.
