We use Cisco ASA 5500-X with FirePOWER Services as the edge for the internet for VPN connections, web sites published to the intenet and apps that needs to be accessible from internet. We also use the outside connection as an alternative path in case the main connection to internet fails.

- Easy GUI administration
- VPN remote access and VPN Site to Site are easy to deploy
- CLI commands remains the same of IOS

- More options for layer7 filter
- Could include IPS and IDS capabilities
- More patches to remediate vulnerabilities
- Allow remote connection for home office
- Reduce the cost of licencing
- Increase performance and network optimization
- Cisco AnyConnect
Connected with Cisco Umbrella for the DNS protection and Cisco AnnyConnect for the remote access VPN for the end user. In both cases it's a very simple integration a easy to deploy.
Cisco ASA 5500-X with FirePOWER Services provides a robust product, and one of its advantages over other devices is Cisco's support. The devices have a long lifespan and rarely fail. They are easy to configure and manage, and do they do not require any additional licensing to enable the various features like VPN, URL filtering and the security functions.
