Overall Satisfaction with Cisco DNA Spaces

The Marketing Department in the company requested to implement a solution in order to offer free WIFI access to our customers during their visit to our stores. Also, the Marketing Manager. requested to get some visit statistics and email from our customers. As IT Department. we didn't want to replace the actual Aironet access points, so Cisco DNA Spaces was the perfect solution to address this requirement.
  • Integration to existing Cisco WLC and Aironet access points
  • Easy implementation (cloud oriented solution)
  • A good dashboard to get digitization stats
  • Very flexible to create custom portals integrated to social networks
  • It's a little expensive
  • The suport could be better for latin america countries, no spanish support
  • It needs to be integrated to Meraki access points
  • We collect emails from our customers to populate our email marketing database
  • The customers are constantly giving good feedback for the service as an aggregated value to the service
  • It has been a good way to get more visits to our eCommerce site which is defined as landing page inside the captive portal
Location analytics is one of the main features that we are using. Visits, dwell time, and visitor statistics are key indicators monitored by our marketing department in order to make decisions about new offers on our eCommerce site and detect peak times in the stores. Right now is another application in the Cisco DNA Spaces dashboard very used and we put that page on a big screen so we can have an idea what's the occupation for each store (visitors count). Also, weekly we export data from CISCO DNA Spaces to an SFTP site in order to get detailed info to be used in other external applications.
In our case, our stores never closed at all.
We could get a lot of emails +30k emails from our customers visiting our stores, creating specific campaigns directed to their profiles. All of this data is imported to Mailchimp on a regular basis. It has been a good way to increase our eCommerce site visits and conversion, also our service to the customers has been renewed offering them a secure and efficient option to connect to the Internet.
After the implementation, we have been capable to know in a better way to our customers, their consuming patterns. Also, it allowed us to get detailed information about hot zones inside the stores and peak times, not only in real-time but also in historical. This is very valuable information for the marketing and sales department.
Location hierarchy is a very good feature to organize the assets. It gives us the capability to monitor assets, what is the access point name, the mac address, controller IP addresses reported, and detailed information about the location including country, city, address, postal code. This is very useful if you have a large implementation of access points and different locations.
Cisco DNA Spaces is an evolution of CMX Cloud which we were using before. As we have Cisco Aironet/catalyst implemented in our organization, it was the best option to select, we didn't need to put in place a new investment or replace the actual hardware. That was the main reason for the decision.

Did implementation of Cisco Spaces go as expected?

Yes

If you need to implement a captive portal solution, offer Wifi access, get location analytics, behavior metrics (visits, DWELL time, etc) and you have a wireless infrastructure based on Cisco Aironet/Catalyst access points or WLC, this is the perfect solution. You don't need to replace your existing hardware. I totally recommend the CISCO DNA Spaces cloud solution, it's stable and we have been using it since 2 years ago.
