Firepower has been used as a replacement hardware for older ASA platform.

No need for installation of additional manager

Implementation TAB feature (command auto completion) when using the WEB cli

Alternatives Considered

I have not evaluated similar products with FPR1010 but I have selected it since I am a current Cisco user. As a software sales engineer, it is my firewall of choice that is suggested for customers.

Other Software Used

Cisco Webex Meetings, Cisco AnyConnect, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Cisco Advanced Malware Protection (AMP) for Endpoints, Cisco Umbrella, Cisco Firepower Management Center (FMC series appliances)

Most suited for small businesses that need enterprise grade functionalities such as IPS and URL filtering. It is less suited for cases where there is a demand for for CPU intensive or traffic intensive functionalities such as TLS decryption. Overall, it is a great product but lacks features, especially monitoring. Additionally, when purchasing and operating Firepower with FDM there is no automated procedure to change to FMC in order to scale up for more firewalls.
