Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)

Guest WiFi authentication via the custom web portal and RADIUS, backend TACACS authentication for logging into internal devices. Future SDA integration.

Pros

  • Able to generate detailed repots of EAP flow for a device
  • Web portal elements are customisable
  • Easy to manage user role and accounts

Cons

  • Frequent bugs with the Guest web portal or GUI management interface of Cisco Identity Services Engine itself
  • GUI is hard to navigate with bad UX, difficult to see historical data in a view similar to live logs
  • Structure of policy elements, policy sets, is not intuitive and difficult to manage
  • Helps us manage guest wifi including hundreds of custom accounts
  • Helps maintain cybersecurity requirements by enforcing user account restrictions and password policy
  • Assist in troubleshoot authentication issues and allows fast gathering of data

Do you think Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)'s feature set?

No

Did Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) again?

Yes

Good for troubleshooting live events if they have occurred recently by pulling up live logs and viewing the authentication flow. But it becomes harder to troubleshoot anything that doesn't appear in live logs and happened days ago. Good for managing a small number of network user accounts but becomes difficult to manage expiries and account disable/enables when account numbers become large.
