We currently use Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) as our Radius server for device authentication and network access control on our campus switches.

Pros

  • Challenging software upgrades on hardware appliances
  • Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) provided us options to better segment our devices.
  • The logging assisted a lot in troubleshooting.
  • The software upgrades are always challenging and being a central component makes getting change windows a challenge.
The Policies for authentication and authorization are easier to define in Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) than in Windows NPS.
