Overall Satisfaction with Citrix ShareFile
ShareFile is used by a subset of our users. However, it is not restricted to any one department. Predominantly, ShareFile is used by those employees who need to access their data files wherever they might have internet access. We first began looking at ShareFile to provide a HIPAA compliant method of seamlessly accessing our documents and spreadsheets while at home or on the road.
- ShareFile provides seamless access to the data we work with on a daily basis while remaining HIPAA compliant. Because the data is hosted internally, there is no Business Associates Agreement (BAA) required.
- ShareFile makes it easy to share large data files with external entities. Any given file/folder can be shared via a simple link. Security can be enabled if desired. Notifications can be set up to let you know when the user has downloaded the file(s).
- ShareFile simplifies large file transfers without the need for a complicated SFTP server. End users can add external/internal users without requiring IT assistance. Not only can files be downloaded by an external group, but they can also be uploaded as well. And, at least in our licensing model, Citrix does not charge for the external user so there is no limit to the number of people we can share within a secure fashion.
- ShareFile could use some improvement where it comes to being able to edit your data on a mobile device. I've seen times where I've made small changes in a spreadsheet on an iPad only to find those changes were not maintained. On the positive side, I've never seen this issue when working with a Windows PC/laptop or any Mac/iMac products.
- Overall the ROI has been positive.
- Saved time.
Functionally, they're on the same level as ShareFile. However, my experience with each of these was from a personal account perspective. From a corporate level, knowing that my data lives in my data center and not having to go through the hassle of negotiating a BAA makes ShareFile the clear winner.
