Overall Satisfaction with ConnectWise Control
[It's] Used by our technicians. It provides remote access to servers and PCs. It allows us to function more efficiently and enable excellent service delivery to our clients. It is fast and is able to control a wide variety of operating systems. We thoroughly enjoy working with the product and would recommend it to anyone looking for a fast, effective solution to remotely manage client infrastructure.
Pros
- Seamless upgrades when updates are available for the product.
- It is quite fast, and very responsive (we use the hosted version).
- The ability to chat, use the whiteboard, incorporate audio, transfer files - these are all very nice features we use everyday.
Cons
- The resource utilization on some older machines, or PCs with <2GB of RAM or a single core is quite high. There are usually multiple threads of the access client running, which consume at least 60MB of RAM.
- We used to poke holes in client firewalls for RDP access, which was a security risk. We have saved a bunch of time by using CWC.
- Centrally managed console is very helpful for multiple techs to know who is doing what - we use the auditing function extensively and have been able to instill a sense of accountability in our Engineers, which helps them be more efficient and thoughtful when doing maintenance on their schedule instead of the clients, for example
- The meeting functionality is great, but we only use it internally - was able to cancel another service. The lack of phone conference bridge support is the only thing holding us back from cancelling our WebEx subscription - not all of our clients are tech savvy enough to use a speaker and mic, bluetooth headset, etc.
AVG Managed workplace, but it was a glorified RDP wrapper. Straight RDP access via client firewall pinholes, using mRemoteNG. None of these compare to CWC
