Overall Satisfaction with Constant Contact Lead Gen & CRM

We use Constant Contact to send sale promotions to our list and nurture our list with valuable content. We sell mobile electronics products (car audio, car alarms, Dashcams, etc.) and install them for customers. Constant Contact has been vital to inviting our 7,000-person email list to a semi-annual VIP sale that generates $300K in revenue in just 4 days. (about 6-8 weeks of regular business).

Pros

  • Customer support.
  • Easy to setup and send campaigns.
  • Easy-to-use editor.

Cons

  • Adding pictures to emails can be tricky at times.
  • Doesn't show in-depth user behavior on your website.
  • Email generated sales revenue isn't as obvious.
  • Has contributed to over 7 figures of sales results in the past 7 years.
  • Customer support has helped troubleshoot problems on multiple occasions.
  • Has helped us grow our list organically resulting in more repeat business over the years.
Constant Contact has stellar customer service .. which often makes up for the fact that it's not the most advanced ESP. It can send broadcast emails just fine, and the automation works well for a basic autoresponder. (7, 14 and 30+ day sequences) But advanced tactics like sunset flows, post-purchase emails, and conditional splits aren't as easy to use as Klaviyo. As we've grown into an e-commerce business, we find using ESPs like Klaviyo more capable of supporting our growth goals.
Constant Contact doesn't stand up against Klaviyo, so we're permanently migrating our lists and customer profiles over to Klaviyo. Constant Contact is an excellent choice for solopreneurs, brick-and-mortar, and businesses that are more heavily focused on face-to-face human interaction. However, companies - or individuals - primarily market and/or sell online, especially Klaviyo, ActiveCampaign, and Yotpo, which seem to be more robust solutions.

Are you happy with SharpSpring (discontinued)'s feature set?

Yes

Did SharpSpring (discontinued) live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of SharpSpring (discontinued) go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy SharpSpring (discontinued) again?

Yes

Constant Contact is excellent for small businesses wanting a simple email to their customers and leads. We've found that it's not the most robust solution for more complex funnels involved in e-commerce or information publishing. For instance, setting up specific flows based on user behavior, VIP status, and other attributes is lacking.
