CVENT Onsite Solutions - excellent for events over 400!

Overall Satisfaction with Cvent Onsite Solutions

I utilize CVENT onsite solutions for clients that already use CVENT as their registration platform AND have over 400 attendees onsite. We can handle onsite registration up to a certain point, but anything over 400 gets sticky if we don't have a way to print badges onsite. I currently utilize CVENT Onsite Solutions about twice a year.

Pros

  • Printing capabilities - color options, advance printing, QR codes.
  • Onsite technical assistance.
  • Integrations with CVENT registration software.

Cons

  • I have had issues with them sending the correct printers in the past, but it doesn't happen often. And when they do, they ship overnight to correct the issue.
  • It's an expensive option - they tend to Nickel and Dime.
  • The app/gamification features are still not perfect. I've had several issues with games on the day of.
  • Indeed, just knowing the app and CVENT has helped our ROI. We now have two fully trained staff members in CVENT (CVENT certified), which helps sell our business. Planners want someone who is full-service, and we can now offer that.
  • The onsite registration system makes our registration process go very smoothly, which, in turn, gives the attendees a positive experience.
Overall, I think there are kinks that still need to be worked out—especially in the app/gamification system. I don't necessarily trust the app's functionality at this time, as I happen to find a "bug" almost every time I utilize it. I find the remaining onsite solutions to be spectacular and would recommend them! Although expensive, they're worth it!
The main reason we choose CVENT as our registration system is that it can integrate into every aspect of your event. Bizzabo has almost everything we require, minus the 24/7 support. Whova, Sched, and Reg Fox each lack that on-site registration solution and their backends aren't as clean. That said, we will use these other systems when planning a small event that doesn't require as many touchpoints.

As mentioned in the first question, I think CVENT Onsite is best to use when the group is over 400 people. Anything under that we can manage by pre-printing. But when it's over 400 and you have a quick registration timeline, onsite solutions are your only option (in my opinion).
