Overall Satisfaction with Dotdigital
In the past two years in our organization, we have been consultants for an integration between CIAM software and DotDigital. The idea is that the purpose of the CIAM is to collect user data, while DotDigital works as a marketing/engagement platform. The original customer base is millions of records worth, and we had serious issues with the integration.
Pros
- Segmentation
- Mail templates.
Cons
- API limits: There is a hardcoded limit on how many API calls you can make per hour, and to raise it, you have to pay.
- The API set is very limited in general.
- The API set is very limited in general
- Maintenance costs due to integration limits.
- API tiers (now formalized in the documentation) were discovered after the initial purchase, so there are more recurring costs.
- In general, a raise of costs in the IT compartment, while it can benefit marketing.
- Sinch Mailgun and MailUp
Regarding pure mail sending/deliverability, DotDigital and Mailgun are on par. Mailgun is more focused on the actual "mail delivery" part, while DotDigital offers a complete marketing package, even if Mailgun quickly caught up at the time of this review (not two years ago when we started). MailUp is okay, but it is behind these two competitors.
