Overall Satisfaction with draw.io

I mostly use the draw.io to create flow diagrams for the userflows and some architecture diagrams as well.
Draw.io is so much helpful when there are complex flows and can't put in words to explain to team.
I use it so much to share the flows and thoughts of mine with the team or to explain some thing to the team.

Pros

  • Good interface for creating diagrams
  • Easy to share with team mates or just download as image
  • Wide range of shapes to create flow diagrams

Cons

  • Some more icons which helps to create wireframes
  • Templates like browser window or mobile screens or more screen size windows
  • Visualize the flow or auto connect few blocks missing connections
  • Create document with the flow diagram selected or with a prompt with context of diagram created
  • Limited advanced collaboration features
  • As a free and open-source tool, there’s no dedicated vendor support. Troubleshooting or setup issues depend on internal IT or community resources
  • When diagrams are stored locally or in shared drives, version confusion can occur (multiple people editing outdated copies).
Considering the draw.io is a open source free tool this has many features which can help most of the users create the diagrams on need basis and save without any worry about losing when closed tab.
But It still has to improve a lot in support perspective and new tech icons and symbols which helps create the diagrams much easier.
Also when every tool is adding advanced features with AI, this still didn't bring any AI features which leaves it behind and move to other tools for those features
draw.io is open-source and free for many uses, which means minimal upfront cost and good value.It works in the browser, also has a desktop version (so you can use offline) which helps teams that may not always be online or want local backups. Useful when you want a diagram tool that “just works” without huge ecosystem lock-in.For organisations that value control, less vendor-dependency, this is a plus.
