A lightweight and easy to use diagramming tool
Overall Satisfaction with draw.io
We use draw.io on occasion as a flowchart tool. It is useful to illustrate processes, workflows, and various pipelines. It's not a tool that we use on a daily basis, but it is useful both for brainstorming flows and to deliver a final cleaned-up version that can then be embedded in presentations or wiki pages.
Pros
- Drawing flowcharts
- UML charts
- Organigrams
Cons
- The app's look and feel is a bit dated
- It could be easier to make a beautiful graph
- The mind mapping graph is pretty poor
- Better communication of complex flows.
- It has helped during brainstorming sessions to illustrate how ideas are linked together.
- The PC app is free and easy to use, giving it a positive ROI even if it's used occasionally.
- Miro and Microsoft Visio
Draw.io is easier to use, lighter, and cheaper than Microsoft Visio. It offers a better experience than Microsoft's offering.
Miro is a broader, more powerful tool than draw.io. It offers cloud-based collaboration tools and makes it easy to integrate with other cloud tools, such as Jira. However, draw.io's light weight and ease of use still make it useful to draw a quick diagram that can then be exported in a standard file format.
