Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
We use Dropbox as the corporate directory tool. Dropbox let's us share files with each other on a shared directory so that we don't need to email files back and forth, and don't need to rely on Google Drive. This would be similar to a Windows corporate shared drive or directory.
Pros
- I like how people can personally change the name of a folder, and it only shows that way for them.
- I appreciate the web version of Dropbox that we can access as a backup in case the regularly mapped Dropbox in Windows File Explorer is lagging.
- I appreciate how easy it is to share folders and add new users.
Cons
- Sometimes updates to files or folders in Dropbox do not show for other users in the Windows File Explorer method of accessing them, and the other users have to wait potentially half a day to see and access the latest version of something. This is a big deal.
- Dropbox has enabled corporate collaboration at a low cost - this is the best thing about it.
- Dropbox has cost us time and stress in being unable to read the latest version of files when the sync is lagging between one user updating a file and others being able to see or access that latest version.
- Dropbox has caused frustration when unable to access a file created by a coworker seemingly due to Microsoft OneDrive, and has not been so resourceful to help resolve the issue.
