Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox Business

I use Dropbox Business for a multi-location organization in order to conveniently store and access various types of files from simple PDFs to 40GB media files. No other solution has provided the cost-effectiveness that Dropbox Business does.

Pros

  • Cost-effectiveness is fantastic. Being able to have the storage space that we need for such a low cost is imported.
  • Dropbox Business file version history and restore features are a life-saver.
  • The ability to manage users and their access to shared organization directories helps us keep a handle on security.
  • The Desktop app (with selective sync) is key. Being able to choose which files/folders are synced locally is necessary with the Terabytes of storage we're using.

Cons

  • I wish Dropbox had better features for supporting/navigating multimedia files.
  • The single local folder sync is unfortunate. We have to use special system symlinks (Mac) to sync content in that has to live in other locations on local computers.
  • The affordability of Dropbox is what allows our organization to use it. Dropbox enables us to have a multi-site operation at a reasonable cost.
Dropbox's growth and popularity has made it easier to work vs other services. Dropbox has continued to grow and improve over the years while other services struggle to keep up.
Dropbox has always been quick and responsive. We regularly upload and download very large files and the speed is what I would expect from a major provider.
Most people are familiar with Dropbox personally which makes using it for business very smooth. The interface is fairly simple and easy to navigate.
Dropbox is great for companies that need to share access to files (and entire folders) both inside and outside of their organization. Dropbox is great for always having the latest version of a file available for all who need it. Dropbox is not well suited as a Digital Assets Management solution for media.
