Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox for Business
We use DB4B to pass transfer web design assets between ourselves, and share with the client. It is being utilized by most of our teams: Design, Development, and Accounts.
Pros
- Simplicity - it doesn't need to do very much, and it does those thing simply and cleanly. Drag and drop your files. Post your link to Basecamp, or whatever, and that covers 99.99% of your use cases. No problems with any of these.
- Reliability - my links NEVER fail. Other solutions have a lot more trouble in this area.
- Sharing Prevention - I can keep people from sharing files outside of our organization. Perfect.
Cons
- Price - minimum $75/mo isn't exactly a big deal, but for what we need it's a bit much. I get more out of other cheaper tools that I use more often. Could use a lower-tiered option because honestly, nobody needs unlimited cloud storage, and I think they know that...
- Security - they say that transmission is SSL-encrypted, which is a bit dated. Maybe they just need to update their marketing but if they aren't using TLS yet, well they should be.
- Administering my team isn't the most intuitive feature.
- Universal Recognition (positive) - everybody is familiar with it, client included, no shortage of "warm and fuzzies"
- Cost (negative) - again, it's not a lot, but for what it is it seems pricey, and again, nobody needs unlimited cloud storage
I use Google Drive extensively, but the collaborate file structure doesn't even compare--dropbox blows it out of the water.
