Overall Satisfaction with Dynatrace

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using the OneAgent company-wide and this tool has really helped out MTTR times and with reducing certain teams' engagement that is not needed.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Dynatrace is great for problem detection and auto base lining of applications processes and services
Intergration with other tools like ServiceNow, Splung and other tools is fantastic
The OneAgent GUI is very easy to use

Cons

I think they can continue to improve the integration with other APIs
Cost for the DEM units when you are using Active Gate on Prem (Managed ) services. Not external needs to change. I don’t feel we should get charged for DEM units for that
More mobile functionality in the Mobile application would be great

Return on Investment

The return on investment is great when you are using the tool for MTTR reduction
I believe this tool is also great for development and testing
I love the RUM monitoring but DEM units can be costly and run down quickly if not managed correctly

Alternatives Considered

AppDynamics, System Center Operations Manager and SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer

I believe hands down dynatrace beats AppDynamics and SCOM monitoring. Solar winds is good for network monitoring and I would love if Dynatrace would intergrate with it

Other Software Used

System Center Operations Manager, SolarWinds Database Performance Analyzer, AppDynamics

I always think end to end monitoring is needed for any critical applications you manage. I would always recommend Dynatrace for that. I don’t know if the application cost would be warranted for lower level app and support.
