Overall Satisfaction with F5 BIG-IP
We mostly use F5 BIG-IP as load balancer. Common business requirement is to load balance traffic with non-standard methods (for example SIP session based on subscriber MSISDN number). Other frequent requirement is to do some modyfication in payload (SIP/HTTP headers). We fruitful it using (sometimes quite complex) iRules and ltm policys.
- advanced traffic processing with iRules
- many authentication options in APM
- load balancing
- logging is to complex, it really hard to understand how to configure it at the beginning
- documentation is very week (incomplete, sometimes errors)
- F5 support is not helpfull (slow responce, playing "on time" instead of concrete ansver
- Bug's in software (VELOS chasis) result in 2 year delay in project.
