Overall Satisfaction with GoodData

We use GoodData to build reporting dashboards that are integrated into our own product. Our SaaS product serves many customers, and the GoodData dashboards are stylized such that they fit seamlessly into our product -- our users do not know they are using GoodData. We appreciate this while label aspect.
Good Data allowed us to deploy a reporting platform with some significant initial investment, but very little need for ongoing maintenance and continued investment from our internal engineering team. We are now able to add additional reporting features quickly without engaging our internal team at all.
  • Visual cohesion with our product.
  • Deployment of multiple customers.
  • Customer support and services.
  • Training on how to build on top of the platform without using their team.
  • Pricing and speed for initial rollout.
  • Better geographic charts.
  • Lower opportunity cost of development (our team available to work on other things).
  • Faster speed to release iterative new features.
  • Industry-leading reporting platform puts us ahead of our competitors.
The dashboards that are built for end-users are incredibly useful. I would rate those a 10. However, the training on how to use and develop on the platform is middle-of-the-road. We've found that our team is not always prepared to build on the platform and we have to engage GoodData staff, and pay for hours, for them to do it for us.
It took us roughly a year to get up and running. About a third of this time was spent by our team developing a new data model to make it easier to transfer and process the information. The two other thirds consisted of building the ETL, reports, dashboards, and a customized user interface design. Finally, we embedded the dashboards into our web app product.
As a customer, we are not using the analytics product ourselves as much as we are using it to build a product that serves our customers. Thus, my feedback as a "user" of the business intelligence and analytics end product is not as reasonable here, but the feedback from our end users has been fantastic.

Do you think GoodData delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with GoodData's feature set?

Yes

Did GoodData live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of GoodData go as expected?

No

Would you buy GoodData again?

Yes

Good Data is well suited for companies that are looking to build a reporting platform into their products and relieve the load on their internal development team to do so. It can be deployed with a variety of customization levels. I would not necessarily suggest Good Data for internal reporting as a business intelligence platform. [I feel like] it shines most as a white-labeled product.
