Overall Satisfaction with Google Sheets

I use it for a handful of different things - I use the formulas to create breakeven tables to create my pricing, use it for a CRM to keep track of client outreach, use it for my finances and accounting, and more. I also love being able to share and co-work on the same sheet with clients. I'm also on a couple local boards and we use Google Sheets for our social media scheduling, event scheduling and more.

Pros

  • Shared spreadsheets w/ collaboration
  • Formulas easy to use to total up invoices, create breakeven formulas, etc
  • Easy to organize things like clients and dated events

Cons

  • Ease of use - I collaborate with a lot of folks on these and a lot of them have trouble using it.
  • Would love more live features; for example, being able to have cells react to other inputs (checkboxes, etc) with reactive formatting
  • More cross-usability with other Google products; it's hard to think of drawbacks honestly, this is a pretty seamless software.
  • Client outreach; it has helped me make a list of customers to reach out to.
  • Accounting; it has made accounting SO much easier and smoother, so I have more time to focus on clients and projects.
  • Cost formulas - it's allowed me to make comfortable margins with fair customer pricing by making breakeven formula sheets.
Honestly I have had zero issues with usability. It's been really smooth and easy to use. That said, I collaborate with a lot of folks on Google Sheets and have found a lot of them getting frustrated with using Google Sheets. Personally I would give it a 10 for usability.
First, the obvious one... price! Google Sheets is free, and Excel is, well, not free. I've also seen Excel moving from a flat purchase to a subscription model, which I really dislike for stagnant software. Google Sheets also does better with collaboration in my experience; and the price comes in here again, it's so much easier to have someone collaborate with you when they don't need to buy software to do so.

It's AMAZING for collaboration. I'm on a few local boards and we use Google Sheets to collab on things like event schedules, budgets, employee goals, etc. It's also amazing for staying organized; I often find myself overwhelmed with tasks and goals, and Google Sheets is an absolute lifesaver when it comes to keeping organized and having everything in one sheet.
