Overall Satisfaction with Gumlet

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Gumlet we selected because we needed a reliable and cost effective way to host video clips. Sometimes, clips are shared on private viewing pages. Other times, we embed a clip on a client's website. Gumlet solves both needs in a very easy to use interface that makes uploading, organizing and sharing video fun to do.

Cons

I would like the ability to set a higher minimum playing resolution so that videos aren't blurry at the start.
Coming from Vimeo I would like to see a Chrome extension or Windows application to record my screen similar to what Loom has.
I would like to see sub folder in playlists within collections. Currently I can only have top level playlists.

Return on Investment

We were able to save money compared to renewing with Vimeo and almost have all of the features we used.
Cost works out to be much less based than other services based on our usage.
We feel that we can help grow our business by being to more easily share clips with clients. We plan to do new things like share video proposals and more with it.

Usability

I found it to have everything that we need and it was easy to figure out without needing to read help documentation. Uploads are very fast at my full connection upload speed. I can sort and organize my clips which keeps my clips easy to find and manage. I like the built-in analytics too.

Alternatives Considered

Vimeo

I would say Gumlet is similar to Vimeo. It's not as a polished interface as Vimeo and there is no mobile app, but when you consider the cost of Vimeo you get almost all the features for a much lower price. We don't have the screen recoding tool with Gumlet which I will miss but looking at options for that.

I think Gumlet is suitable for any content creator that makes videos for clients as well as for small businesses that want to host videos on their website to promote their products/services. If you want to make quick videos sharing your screen you have to do this using a different tool then export your footage and manually upload to Gumlet so it's not ideal for that.

Products Replaced

Yes - We replaced Vimeo Pro. We wanted to reduce our costs but have still similar functionality. There were a few compromises we had to make but over all we didn't lose too many features.
