Easy and Affordable Video Hosting
Overall Satisfaction with Gumlet
Gumlet we selected because we needed a reliable and cost effective way to host video clips. Sometimes, clips are shared on private viewing pages. Other times, we embed a clip on a client's website. Gumlet solves both needs in a very easy to use interface that makes uploading, organizing and sharing video fun to do.
Pros
- Create private viewing pages
- Organize clips into collections then sub-play lists
- Customize the embed player for client branding and colors
- Offer optional secure video streaming with DRM that all the big companies use to prevent people stealing our content
Cons
- I would like the ability to set a higher minimum playing resolution so that videos aren't blurry at the start.
- Coming from Vimeo I would like to see a Chrome extension or Windows application to record my screen similar to what Loom has.
- I would like to see sub folder in playlists within collections. Currently I can only have top level playlists.
- We were able to save money compared to renewing with Vimeo and almost have all of the features we used.
- Cost works out to be much less based than other services based on our usage.
- We feel that we can help grow our business by being to more easily share clips with clients. We plan to do new things like share video proposals and more with it.
I would say Gumlet is similar to Vimeo. It's not as a polished interface as Vimeo and there is no mobile app, but when you consider the cost of Vimeo you get almost all the features for a much lower price. We don't have the screen recoding tool with Gumlet which I will miss but looking at options for that.

Evaluating Gumlet and Competitors
Yes - We replaced Vimeo Pro. We wanted to reduce our costs but have still similar functionality. There were a few compromises we had to make but over all we didn't lose too many features.
- Ease of Use
We wanted a system that would be quick and easy when editing, uploading and embedding video clips.
We didn't look at too many other services.
Gumlet Implementation
- Implemented in-house
Change management was minimal - We avoided implementing because we thought it would be too hard to migrate our library and update our embeds, but it wasn't.
- No significant issues encountered
