Overall Satisfaction with Heap

Heap is mostly being used by the product team to track user behavior. It's been most helpful for gaining insight into what individual users are doing, rather than just seeing aggregate numbers put together. We've tried to create dashboards that help other job functions like marketing and business development, but it seems like they prefer other analytics tools like the more ubiquitous Google Analytics for their needs.
  • [Heap] shows individual user behavior.
  • Tracks a few events (clicks, views, etc.) before you define them, so you'll have historical data once it's defined.
  • [Heap] shows real-time behavior for data validation.
  • [I believe] charting averages are very limited. After reaching out to Support, the functionality isn't there. Now, when I want an average, I just export it into a CSV and calculate it manually, which is tedious and annoying.
  • They advertise as just a code snippet, but for most sites, [I believe] the implementation is a long and arduous process.
  • [In my experience] there's no good way to always filter out certain test accounts we use. It's tedious to have to create a separate segment and add it to every report that's created.
  • It's helped build up the infrastructure of our product team.

Do you think Heap delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Heap's feature set?

Yes

Did Heap live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Heap go as expected?

No

Would you buy Heap again?

Yes

It's good for seeing specific user behavior, but not great for overarching views of things across multiple events (in that case you'll want a data warehouse).
