Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cognos Analytics
Cognos is used company wide to analyze sales. The convenience it provides for drilling down into different metrics is terrific. It can be used to send out last year sales by department and sub class so the management team can have the ability to plan for future business based off of last year’s numbers.
Pros
- Amount of historical data.
- Ease of navigation.
Cons
- Ability to run multiple window within a subset.
- When backtracking data can remain filled from last interaction.
- Increased sales
- Add on sales
The ability to drill down into a category to view sales per item is very valuable. You can build futures off of the acquired data and maximize every basket ring through migration or suggestive merchandising. Cognos also is valuable because you can align your unstuck levels based off of cyclical demand.
The amount of data at your fingertips is almost unimaginable. in the past, we had the ability to look at sales, but not on such a grand scale. The fact that you can drill down to a single item in a category that may contain 40,000 SKU numbers and compare trends year to year all on one screen is very valuable.
