Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My organization uses IBM Cognos Analytics to pull data reports from Deltek Costpoint. There is no way to pull data only with Costpoint so we use IBM Cognos Analytics to fill that gap.

With the last upgrade the reports take a really long time to load. It now takes us like a week in advance to pull all the reports for SBA reporting.

Most Valuable Capabilities

the capabilities of IBM COGNOS analytics i find most valuable is the ability to integrate with Deltek Costpoint. My organization used Costpoint and without cognos we are unable to pull reports!

Having the ability to use IBM Cognos Analytics as a self service has really helped me out. I am able to quickly and easily pull data to track my purchase order services/software spend as well as track data for our federal reporting for small business spend. I do not need to wait on anyone, I am able to go pull the data I need at anytime.

Data Security and Quality

It's helpful because only certain areas of the organization has access. It keeps us with the ability to control who can see what data and making sure they come to Procurement and finance to access.

Reporting

I would rate it an 7 out of 10. While I find most of the reports helpful, I do find some that are a bit confusing or that it takes 2 reports then the need to combine them to get the data I need. It would be helpful if a report was combined.

I work in Procurement/Subcontracts for my organization so we do a lot of purchasing of services, software and hardware, maintenance. We use Deltek Costpoint for purchase orders however, there is no way to pull all the date. We use IBM Cognos Analytics to pull data reports for all types of information. We use it to track funding, track software/hardware renewals, accurately track small business spend for the government.

Scalability and Accessibility

Data Modeling

I gave this rating because Cognos does have a lot of capability to custom model your reports! We use it at my organization to pull multiple finance and procurement function reporting! While for the most part this is successful however, have issues pulling our small business reporting. We are forced to pull two reports then manipulate the data and it’s dreadful.

I gave it this rating because most of the reports we pull the integration is ok, but While for the most part this is successful however, have issues pulling our small business reporting. We are forced to pull two reports then manipulate the data and it’s dreadful.

Mobile Accessibility

My organization does not utilize the mobile accessibility. The Dashboard is average.

Usability

I gave it this rating because it gets the job done, but as I’ve mentioned previously we have issues pulling reporting data for our small business reporting

Scalability

I have to give it a lower rating for this..we pull large amounts of data for certain reporting and it takes a very long time for each report to pull. It takes days sometimes which is not good.

Our organization will very likely continue to renew and utilize the IBM COGNOS analytics as long as we utilize our Costpoint system. We use the cognos to pull funding reports from that system because it does not have a way to pull the data internally.
