Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cognos Analytics

Congos is used for reporting and analytics processes only. Different structures are used to report on certain levels and increase understanding. The scope was to have a flexible and user-accepted (friendly) tool.

Pros

  • Data visualization.
  • Data structures.
  • Flexibility

Cons

  • Integration scenarios.
  • Real-time access to other databases.
  • Complex data models.
  • Time saving.
  • Flexible approach.
  • Reduced analytics costs.
It's not easy at all. I'm still struggling with some implementation steps. Self-service capabilities are great, but they're not as easy as they sound on a daily basis.
Functionality is great and very important for gaining confidence in the process. Quality of data is also important for ensuring user acceptance.
It's not as flexible and integrated as it sounds. It does not use all the reporting capabilities. Congo's analytics are still ongoing.
Not to be compared. Completely different products.
